A Miss Mayhem Novella

~ * ~

When desperately private writer Imogen George offered to marry Peter Watson it wasn’t just to save a friend but to secure her own future. With her eyesight failing and no other prospects for marital bliss on the horizon, surely it wouldn’t be too horrible to marry without the benefits of love. When Peter gains a title and fortune a week before they’re set to wed, the right thing to do is release him to spare him the burden of her limited future.

Peter had believed that marriage to Imogen would work out until she set him free one week before the wedding with a cruel truth spelled out plainly. Bitter, he’s spent a year away to lick his wounds but found the carefree life of a wealthy man utterly lacking the things he needs most. Returning to Brighton, he discovers the woman he was once to wed has an even greater problem than he’d ever experienced. This time it’s within his power now to help her and he’ll do it…one stolen kiss at a time.

Miss George’s Second Chance is a steamy regency romance novella

Happy New Year from Heather Boyd

happy new year 2014Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you’ve all had a safe and fun few days seeing 2014 ushered in and have made lots of exciting plans for the coming year. I’ve made a few writing related goals but aside what I want most of all this year is to carve out a bit of time for myself away from my desk. Writing keeps me pretty stationary for long periods and since I’m my own boss, and toughest critic, this year I need to move more before my muscles freeze up on me.

I especially wanted to thank my readers for making 2013 so  wonderful. THANK YOU. The support and interest in my stories has been incredible and I look forward to bringing new stories to you very soon.

To my friends undertaking a career in writing/publishing I wish you all the very best for 2014. I look forward to reading your work in the coming months because I’m a reader too and I love nothing better than to get lost in a story. There are some great regencies coming soon from Samantha Grace, Julie Johnstone and Bronwen Evans. Cannot wait to read them.

Take care and Happy reading

What have I been doing? A writing update and thank you

Is it time for a writing update?

Can you believe 2013 is almost over? I’m kinda in shock and wondering where the year has gone. I’ve been so busy writing my regency romances that I’ve skimped on writing updates here on my website. So if I haven’t been here then what exactly did I do for the past twelve months? I wrote a lot of regency romances. Hmm, let me see what I did manage to accomplish this year.

New Stories

  • Guarding the Spoils
  • Miss Watson’s First Scandal
  • Hunting the Hero
  • Miss George’s Second Chance

Two novels and two novellas. Plenty of new regency romances to keep you up late. 🙂

Revised and republished

  • One Wicked Night – wicked short story
  • Love Me Tender – part one of the Love Me duo

After publisher Noble Romance shut up shop and returned my book rights I had both books reedited prior to publishing again. I hope everyone has enjoyed the updated and now fairly priced works if they missed them the first time round.

That’s a huge amount of work right there when you count in new book covers, formatting and uploads. My editors have been simply amazing this year.  Love their dedication to their craft and patience with my work.

Over the course of this year, and this year is still going because I’ve not stopped working yet, I’ve written over 290K new words in stories alone. More words written than published wish means I’m ahead for 2014. Woo hoo! Good times. No wonder my writing updates have been few and far between. LOL

Many thanks to you wonderful readers who’ve picked up the odd copy of my work and been kind enough to contact me or leave a lovely review around the web. Those words of encouragement keep me writing and discovering new ways to make my characters find the one their meant to love. More of that to come. Everyone deserves a happy ending in my regency world.

Take care

Happy Sunday! Well, it would be if it hasn’t been raining all morning. Don’t get me wrong we need the rain. But rainy days make me want to write. I’m supposed to have my mum hat on today. Writing has to wait until tomorrow.

Miss George’s Second Chance released this week, despite Amazon opening up the Australian store and throwing me into a mild panic at the prices they’d set.  I’m hoping some of you were tempted to grab the whole story but if not …. keep reading. I’m continuing the scene straight on from last week. It loses a bit without the last part of the dialogue but them’s the breaks.

Where is your chaperone, Miss George?” Mr. Watson asked suddenly, squinting into the darkness toward the township where their respective homes lay.

With her eyesight as poor as it was, Imogen couldn’t say for certain in which direction her reluctant chaperone, her brother Walter, stood, so she waved her hand airily in the direction she’d left him, hoping her companion would not notice or point out if she were utterly wrong. “Walter is over there. Never mind about him for the present. Do sit down so I may avoid suffering a pained neck from looking up at you.”

As Mr. Watson sank to the ground nearby, a weary sigh left his lips. “I am sorry I tumbled you over earlier tonight, Miss George….”

Happy release day Miss George!

It’s release day at last for Miss George’s Second Chance. I am so thrilled to have this book complete and out into the world. You first met Miss Imogen George in Miss Watson’s First Scandal. Best friends and soon to be sisters-in-law. But things change quickly in my world and the convenient happy ever after Miss George intended goes all wrong when her intended gains a title, and money.

But then Peter gains a title a week before they’re set to wed and all of Imogen’s expectations change.

Peter once believed that marriage to Imogen would solve his financial problems. He didn’t mind marrying for convenience and a large fortune when affection was within reach. Yet when he gains a title, an estate, and a fortune of his own the secretive writer releases him from their engagement so he might marry for love. Now he’s returned, unwed and unaware of changes in her life, should he do what is expected or listen to his heart instead?

WeWriWa: Miss George’s Second Chance Pt2

Happy Sunday! I had such a great response to the first Miss George’s Second Chance first snippet last weekend. Thank you so much for your wonderful words of encouragement. I’m following immediately on from last week

She limped forward, annoyed that her clumsiness at dinner earlier in the evening at his house had robbed her of her dignity. It was not every day she pursued a man for conversation, even when he was her best friend’s elder brother. She was taking quite a risk being here but it was within her power to improve their lot. Peter Watson may lack the good sense to detect and seize his only chance for security, but Imogen would not. She had a plan for her life and Mr. Peter Watson would suit her needs perfectly.

When she found the place she meant to sit, Mr. Watson remembered his manners and gallantly swept his coat from his shoulders and spread it on the ground so she might rest upon it. She was pleased to see that even while desperate, he did retain some good qualities. Her hopes for a smooth resolution soared.

I love and appreciate your comments. Thanks for reading.
