Miss Merton is ready and waiting!

Book 4 in the Miss Mayhem series features Melanie Merton and Walter George is winging its way from retailers to your mailbox or digital devices. Thank goodness for that. The waiting was killing me.

If you pre-ordered the book thank you so much. If you grab a copy this week I really appreciate your interest.

You can order your copy through:

amazon  ibooks bn  kobo all-romance-ebooks Google Play

When you finish reading, feel free to contact me and let me know what you think of Melanie by the end. My editor thought I’d go the easy way and was surprised by my choice for the ending.

If you take the time to leave a review at Amazon, Goodreads or Apple, you’ll make my day!

It’s all about the hero

It’s just two short weeks until the release of Miss Merton’s Last Hope and I thought it was time to shine a light on my hero Walter George. Walter has been a constant presence in the Miss Mayhem series. Brother to Imogen (of Miss George’s Second Chance) and a best friend to all the men. The ladies trust him but don’t gush over him. And he’s not been altogether happy with one particular neighbour of late.

Valentine rubbed his hands together briskly. “All I need next is to see my sister happily married.”
Walter nodded, as he was expected to do when the subject of marrying sisters off came up in conversation. His own sister had married a neighbor and friend so he had plenty of experience in this field.
He considered the lady under discussion. She was lovely in her own way, tall, perfect complexion, a beauty, but she wasn’t the least bit approachable. “A tricky proposition, in your case. How many proposals has she turned down?”
“Oh, eleven, I think it is.”
Walter grunted, surprised by the number. He’d only heard of a handful of local beaus who had been turned down. “That many?”
“Be a friend and don’t spread that about. I’m still hoping for one more who might be acceptable before we get to unlucky number thirteen.”
Walter shook his head, unable to fathom why Miss Melanie Merton was so damn particular about choosing a husband. He was acquainted with a few of her former suitors and they were all quite decent sorts and intelligent enough to please even her father. None had possessed a great fortune or a title. “Maybe number twelve will suit.”

Hint: Number 12 suitor has NO chance! LOL

To find out what happens next you’ll need to order your copy of the book.

After a book release

What does a writer do after a book release? Start thinking of the next book almost immediately. Or at least that’s what I’ve done this last week. I’m planning a new series for next year – cruising the web for inspiration and combing through research notes about the British Navy. Totally fun and time consuming! Everyone should have this in their day job.

Reviewer Shout Out!

Miss Radley’s Third Dare was made available to NetGalley reviewers in July and I’d like to give each Netgalley reviewer a huge bouquet of virtual flowers for posting your reviews online so quickly. Thanks a bunch – roses, daisies, or carnations.

To those who purchased their copy and read and reviewed – again thanks and bless you for taking the time to share your opinion with the reading community.

To everyone who bought the book – I really hoped you enjoyed Miss Radley’s adventure when you read it. She was a hoot to write and I miss her already!

After a book release – when’s the next?

Book Four

By now you might have noticed I’ve updated the website with Miss Merton’s Last Hope details – cover and blurb. Isn’t Melanie pretty? Redeeming this girl was always going to be a challenge and sorting her out was definitely a tricky proposition.

The last book in the Miss Mayhem series doesn’t release until October 13 but you can pre-order now if you prefer. Visit her page to read the full blurb and I’ll be updating her page with snippets from the final book shortly.

Beyond the next release

Whoosh! I’ve just emailed Reason to Wed to my super fab editor, Kelli Collins. Once the edits are back for Esme and Windermere’s story I’ll update the website with a better idea of a release date and book cover for that couple. Keep watch on the coming soon page or follow my Amazon.com Author Page to be notified when I add new books for sale.

Miss Radley’s Third Dare is ready to be read!

Miss Radley's Third Dare cover imageAt long last I can share Miss Radley’s Third Dare, the third story about the residents of Brighton during the regency. Thank you for your patience too dear readers. I know it’s been a very long time since Miss George’s Second Chance. This story is set three months after Julia dared Valentine Merton to a race in the sea. He lost fair and square but all has not been smooth sailing in their little community. Julia has suffered, Valentine is annoyed (with everyone else) and the more he tries to pull away the more she’d tries to make everything right again. I love how they are together because they were not what I intended when I first imagined this series of characters. Yes, Julia is something of a hoyden and Valentine is still clever and fun but together they are something special. The most unconventional match I’ve ever written.

I do hope you enjoy Miss Radley’s Third Dare.

Copies are available everywhere in print and digital editions.

Goals for August

* Complete Reason to Wed for my awesome editor Kelli Collins by the middle of the month. I’m almost ready to send.

* Work on something completely different for the remaining days of August. Vampires! The story will likely be very rough but its a means of feeding my creativity and who knows I might just publish it down the track. We’ll see how the story turn out.

* Get a Fitbit. A friend was showing me her device recently and explained how it keeps her motivated and honest about her daily exercise. I sit on my butt 5 days a week working at home so I need all the help I can get to remember to move. She’s in a group of other fitbit users who track their progress and meet challenges set by the group – that feature blew me away. I get bored working out solo and with the proof the device records I think I might have a chance to slim down by summer.

Goodluck!

Have you met my Valentine?

Julia tried to shake off Valentine’s grip. “Tomorrow you will ignore me again and I’ve had enough of that.”

The best thing for her was to go. He pushed her harder toward the door.

In the candlelight, her eyes widened and she resisted him. “I thought you were a gentleman. Unhand me!”

“I’m not in the mood for misunderstandings, Miss Radley. You simply must leave.”

Her hands lifted to curl about his biceps and squeeze. The discomfort her digging fingers inflicted was a surprise. Julia was stronger than he’d expected—and then he was the one being moved. They wrestled for dominance a moment but unless he wanted to risk hurting her, they were reasonably matched. He took a breath. “Why do you provoke me?”

“I’m not.” And yet she did not let go of his arms. “I don’t believe that because you are a man, you must be obeyed at all times. Linus is just as overbearing.”

“I’m nothing like Linus and you know it.” Frustrated by her obstinacy, he jerked her against him.

Julia landed against his chest, her fingers pinched into his arms as she stared up at him.

Her lips parted in surprise. “Valentine?”

“Must you always be so bloody stubborn?”

“But we’re not done speaking.” Her eyes flashed with fire again, the same spark of life and excitement that had convinced him to accept her dare.

He nudged the door shut with his foot instead of throwing her out and pressed her back against the door. “God help us both if my cousin spots us together.”

“Teresa would say nothing about it once I explained why I am here.”

“Why are you here? You know what people will say about us if we are found.” As he stared at her, a sudden urge to bend her to his will overtook him. She was wild, and a firm hand could tame her. The idea took hold as he stared into her glorious green eyes.

Could the reason she pursued him like this be that she’d grown to like him?
