Six Sunday #23: In the Widow’s Bed

Welcome back for the final excerpt from In the Widow’s Bed, my regency cougar romance and my last Six Sunday for a little while. I need to finish up my current wip so no distractions for June. Apologies too for not reciprocating on everyone’s posts last Sunday. An injury kept me offline all of this past week. All better now — thank goodness.

In this scene, its the morning after the big scandalous night and poor Jonathon is battling his memories of the evening. Enjoy.

Lady Jocelyn sat across from him, daintily eating her breakfast and sipping her tea. But she had stretched out her leg and was currently running her toe up and down his trouser in a brazen flirtation.

However, what aroused Jonathan was Lady Warminster’s presence across the room, fixing herself a heaped plate of food. He could usually bear the sight of her without reaction, but today her smile tortured him. She looked smugly happy, content and, given the way her lips lifted for no obvious reason, he wondered if she was thinking of last night.

Jonathan tucked his legs under his chair, turned the page, and tried to concentrate on the goings on in parliament that he’d missed during the recent sessions.

Six Sunday #22: In the Widow’s Bed

Welcome back for annother excerpt from In the Widow’s Bed, my regency cougar romance. In this scene, Phoebe is meeting her secret lover for the first time. It’s dark and she cannot see him. Enjoy.

A spill of light brightened the chamber briefly, and she caught sight of a tall form entering her room. The floorboards groaned as he came closer, fabric slithered in the dark, and then the foot of the bed dipped.

“Enchantée, ma belle.”

A Frenchman? Phoebe wracked her brain for his identity. There had been none on Warminster’s list that she could remember and she inched up the bed.

Six Sentence Sunday #21: In the Widow’s Bed

Ah, Mother’s Day. A day to be spoiled and to spoil those who raised you. I’m currently faffing in bed, watching Season 3 of Castle after a yummy breakfast prepared by my family. Later, I’ll go visit my mum. For those mother’s dropping by, I hope you have a perfect day. Here’s my six for your reading pleasure.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Luckily, Selwood had no idea how she struggled to keep her composure around him. It simply could not be decent for a woman her age to stir with lust for a man so many years younger.

“Secrecy makes your desire a little harder to accommodate. But not impossible.” Selwood glanced about them. “There is one particular gentleman who should be agreeable and willing to meet with you. I assume you’d like something arranged for this evening?”

Yeah, you can bet that isn’t all he’s planning. LOL Be sure to comment on Six Sentence Sunday #21 post

Six Sentence Sunday #21

In the Widow’s Bed

Phoebe Torrington, Lady Warminster, is bored, lonely, and downright frustrated by her life. Perhaps that’s why she’s turned to her stepson’s friend, Lord Selwood, to help her find the perfect lover. Clean, experienced, and discreet, her delicious Frenchman is as exciting as he’d promised. But she never expected Selwood—a man ten years her junior—to disguise his voice and send himself to share her bed.

Jonathan Oliver, Lord Selwood, came to his friend’s house party to stake a claim on his future bride. However, he delays his pursuit of the eager debutant when he discovers Phoebe’s intriguing need. Jonathan cannot resist the temptation to secretly spend a night in the widow’s bed. Yet once he’s tasted Phoebe’s desire, will one night ever be enough?

Six Sentence Sunday #20: In the Widow’s Bed

Hello again. I’m back with a new story for Six Sentence Sunday #20 this month. This excerpt is from my first indie release, In the Widow’s Bed. My first (and so far only) cougar romance set in he regency period. In this short excerpt, widowed Lady Warminster has just confessed she’s looking for a lover. Jonathan is her step-sons friend and he’s smitten with her. Enjoy.

At Lady Warminster’s shocked gasp, Jonathan drew her out onto the terrace where darkness hid her embarrassment from any witnesses. “Or would you prefer the comfort of darkness for your daring escapade?”

He drew closer, slid the tips of his fingers along her arm, over the thin strip of skin exposed to the night between her glove and gown to gauge her reaction. Lady Warminster shuddered, her hitched breath loud in the dark night. Unfortunately, his body reacted, too. Her velvet skin stirred a hunger in him that he strove to control.

Six Sentence Sunday #19: One Wicked Night

Welcome back. I really missed doing Six Sentence Sunday while on holidays last week and especially visiting the other author blogs. But poor internet signal at the beach means complete social networking breakdown.

This week’s six is again from One Wicked Night. We are a little further into the evening and Lottie is tormenting Benedict in bed. Enjoy!

* * *

He was in heaven. A very sticky heaven.

Still hungry, Lottie had returned to the dining table and snagged a little something she could sample. Off his body, that was. A dollop of cream splattered onto the middle of his belly and he sucked in a quick breath against the chill while Lottie chased the food with her playful mouth.

She seemed to delight in exploring every inch of him, dirtying his skin with food, and then wiping him clean with her dangerously talented tongue.

Six Sentence Sunday #18: One Wicked Night

Happy Easter!! I’m continuing with excerpts from One Wicked Night but it is so hard to keep it down to just six sentences. Forgive me. This one is seven.  We pick up where Lottie and Benedict are engaging in a little verbal foreplay over dinner but her last comments about his enjoyment of Town with his family (mother and sister) in tow has gotten his hackles up. Enjoy!

* * *

Lottie threw her head back and laughed. “Oh, you look ready to strangle me. Be calm, Benedict. I only enquire into my guest’s love life. They described your mother as youthful before we determined her identity. I do not care to interfere in known or clandestine attachments. I have no right to damage hearts.”
