Humans

I recently started watching Human’s, a parallel present sci-fi series where the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a ‘Synth’ – a highly-developed robotic servant that’s too similar to a real human. Honestly who wouldn’t want something like a Synth to clean up after the kids? The show hooked my by the end of Episode 1 and at the end of 2 I’m dying for more. Fantastic premise and execution on the small screen. Love Colin Morgan as Leo (and in everything) but it took me ages to pinpoint where I knew the mum Laura (Katherine Parkinson) from. She was the reporter Kitty in Sherlock, the Reichenbach Fall episode. Humans a show well worth watching for the lovely shocks it delivers each week!

A book with no name

I also began writing a new book in a new four book regency romance series today. Both series and books are named so far, but I’m off to a great start with the first chapter (hero point of view) written. I’ll keep you posted on the progress.

Goodreads Print Giveaway

The August Goodreads print giveaway for Miss Radley’s Third Dare has just ended. Congratulations to Karen Ide and Sangeeth MS. Your books will be in the mail very soon!

Tracking My Steps

About two weeks ago I purchased a Fitbit Charge. They say 10,000 steps a day is good and I’ve now, as I suspected, failed to get anywhere near that number on a working day. I got close on laundry day. It’s also not tracking my stair climbs well and pushing a shopping trolley didn’t register at all so I’m wearing it around my ankle (under my sock) to get an accurate count. Good thing its winter so no one sees it beneath my jeans. As we say in publishing, this is a marathon not a sprint, so I’m making small changes in my day to move more. I set five reminder alarms to help me get up and moving. I’ll probably need to restart a walking routine but I do wish it were warmer in the mornings.

Upcoming Movie Must See

The Martian. Just caught the trailer via Facebook. It is OMG awesome and then there’s Matt Damon in it too. Can’t wait until October. I feel a movie date coming on…

Have a great weekend!

Miss Mayhem Series

After a book release

What does a writer do after a book release? Start thinking of the next book almost immediately. Or at least that’s what I’ve done this last week. I’m planning a new series for next year – cruising the web for inspiration and combing through research notes about the British Navy. Totally fun and time consuming! Everyone should have this in their day job.

Reviewer Shout Out!

Miss Radley’s Third Dare was made available to NetGalley reviewers in July and I’d like to give each Netgalley reviewer a huge bouquet of virtual flowers for posting your reviews online so quickly. Thanks a bunch – roses, daisies, or carnations.

To those who purchased their copy and read and reviewed – again thanks and bless you for taking the time to share your opinion with the reading community.

To everyone who bought the book – I really hoped you enjoyed Miss Radley’s adventure when you read it. She was a hoot to write and I miss her already!

After a book release – when’s the next?

Miss Merton's Last Hope Digital book cover
Miss Merton’s Last Hope
Book Four

By now you might have noticed I’ve updated the website with Miss Merton’s Last Hope details – cover and blurb. Isn’t Melanie pretty? Redeeming this girl was always going to be a challenge and sorting her out was definitely a tricky proposition.

The last book in the Miss Mayhem series doesn’t release until October 13 but you can pre-order now if you prefer. Visit her page to read the full blurb and I’ll be updating her page with snippets from the final book shortly.

Beyond the next release

Whoosh! I’ve just emailed Reason to Wed to my super fab editor, Kelli Collins. Once the edits are back for Esme and Windermere’s story I’ll update the website with a better idea of a release date and book cover for that couple. Keep watch on the coming soon page or follow my Amazon.com Author Page to be notified when I add new books for sale.

Miss Radley’s Third Dare is ready to be read!

Miss Radley's Third Dare cover imageAt long last I can share Miss Radley’s Third Dare, the third story about the residents of Brighton during the regency. Thank you for your patience too dear readers. I know it’s been a very long time since Miss George’s Second Chance. This story is set three months after Julia dared Valentine Merton to a race in the sea. He lost fair and square but all has not been smooth sailing in their little community. Julia has suffered, Valentine is annoyed (with everyone else) and the more he tries to pull away the more she’d tries to make everything right again. I love how they are together because they were not what I intended when I first imagined this series of characters. Yes, Julia is something of a hoyden and Valentine is still clever and fun but together they are something special. The most unconventional match I’ve ever written.

I do hope you enjoy Miss Radley’s Third Dare.

Copies are available everywhere in print and digital editions.

Goals for August

* Complete Reason to Wed for my awesome editor Kelli Collins by the middle of the month. I’m almost ready to send.

* Work on something completely different for the remaining days of August. Vampires! The story will likely be very rough but its a means of feeding my creativity and who knows I might just publish it down the track. We’ll see how the story turn out.

* Get a Fitbit. A friend was showing me her device recently and explained how it keeps her motivated and honest about her daily exercise. I sit on my butt 5 days a week working at home so I need all the help I can get to remember to move. She’s in a group of other fitbit users who track their progress and meet challenges set by the group – that feature blew me away. I get bored working out solo and with the proof the device records I think I might have a chance to slim down by summer.
