Winter Warm Up Blog Hop: Dec 19-22

Winter Warm Up Blog HopWelcome to my post for the Winter Warm-up Blog Hop. I’m Heather Boyd, a regency romance author and along with over 140 other romance authors this weekend we’re set to bring the heat. *waves fan* Can you feel it yet? That’s the scorch of summer from down under. I’m Australian so I’m wishing I wasn’t quite so hot right now. LOL It’s a little strange to be thinking about the cold and rugging up at this time of year. It’s not uncommon for us to have water fights at Christmas. 😀

Today, I’m sharing an excerpt from Miss George’s Second Chance, a sensual regency romance novel set in the seaside town of Brighton.

“Sir Peter Watson to see you, miss.” The butler’s sudden announcement caught Imogen by surprise. She was not ready at all to greet Peter today or any day.

She rubbed her eyes, wishing she’d remained above stairs this morning. “Could you tell him I am otherwise engaged?”

“I’d like to, miss, but he’s standing right beside me.”

Imogen gulped nervously. It was the height of bad manners to pretend to be busy when a caller came. To be caught at it was far worse.

One set of footsteps came toward her. “Hello Imogen.”

Although she strained her senses, she couldn’t detect another presence with him. “Sir Peter.” She stood quickly, forgetting her lap was full of embroidery yarns she was attempting to straighten as a gift for Teresa Long. “Oh.”

Imogen dropped to her knees, running her hands over the thick, carpeted rug in search of them. She gathered them up, and then struggled to reposition herself on her settee. By the time she lifted her face it was hot with embarrassment.

Peter sat at her side. “You missed a couple.”

He placed them gently on the palm of her hand and covered them with his.

“Thank you.”

Thick tension swirled between them. She wished she could see. If he pitied her then she could forget how badly his nearness affected her. She could pretend the warmth of his hands hadn’t tormented her sleep the night before.

More about the book:  Peter Watson had accepted that a loveless marriage was the only means to solve his financial problems until an unexpected inheritance changes everything. When Imogen releases him so he might marry for love instead, he discovers the carefree life of a peer lacks… the girl he never dared kiss.

  1. I would prepare either roast beef or lamb, with my special Jamaican rice and peas, macaroni and cheese and salad. Of course dessert would be a cheesecake, maybe peach/Amaretto!

  2. I’m not the best cook around, but I do make a pretty good pot roast, and am better at dessert, thank goodness. Or even maybe b-b-q ribs?

  3. My hubby makes wonderful pot roast…and lately we’ve been using it in tacos…so, we’d probably serve you those! Thanks for the giveaway and Happy Holidays to you and your family!

  4. Something I can cook well by myself: baked tilapia with white wine and lemon, French green beans, and baked sweet potato wedges.

  5. Hi! Happy holidays! Thank you all for the fun!! Hope you have a blast with your family! Hmm. I dont know. Id ask ya what you like. Usually tho, i make potato bake. Its a favorite with family and friends! Or homemade chicken pot pie.
